1) Reading of Mission Statement:
Purpose: The purpose shall be to improve and beautify the community of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. To survey, study, plan, report, recommend, guide and conduct activities relating to the physical improvement and beauty of Fort Atkinson and its environs. The organization is dedicated exclusively to charitable and educational purposes as set forth above and no substantial part of its activities will attempt to influence legislation by propaganda or otherwise.

3) Treasurer’s Report: Gail Cook a) insurance pd for cow parade and Polar Path; balance $6414.10; the Holiday Lights acct balance is $4615.44 b) have 3 acct at FCCU c) see attached report. Motion to approve by Bob Bell, second Paul Hadler Note: Gail is requesting a replacement for treasurer position
4) Dick Schultz passing – memorial In remembrance of all Dick contributed to Fort Atkinson, motion by Mike Williams that memorial for Dick Schultz be focused exclusively toward a beautification project. Second Mariah Hadler. Discussion with ideas of plant a tree, bench on bike path, plaque with quote, artwork. Vote: 11 yes, 1 no on motion (See item 7 below re Schultz blurb)

6) Fort Atkinson Cow Parade: Committee Report: Alan Cook, museum sign, webpage – Jude Museum sign-no word yet, web page is up, Jude will talk with museum and dairy shrine president re location of sign at the museum (would prefer sign more visible-not in lower level); it has been 1 year (done 11/5/2023) since cows placed; have learned no wreaths, no metal-as has damaged cow; have had good feedback re cow parade 😊
7) Mural Phase #2 : Progress report

Opening event - Magic on the Polar Path Friday Dec 6th 4-6pm (4-6:30pm); information on the web site; Tim Radloff as Santa; others that will be there during the event: Red Kettle, any non-profit can set up to sell, animals, maybe carolers, mascots;
Dick Schultz -lights? Cont report by Mariah: Lights for tree sponsored by FHC ($700); Help from Justin Strohbusch S&P Tree Service; Have $4000 as reserve

b) City is checking with department heads - decision? Mike talked with Rebecca Houseman, city manager re Madison Ave/Business 26; response was BLUF (bottom line up front) answer was no…Concerns are liability and long term care; decision to put on the back burner as now is not the time. Other areas to consider: the welcome to Fort Atkinson sign, discussed move or new one; regarding tree planting-general feeling we have plenty of trees for now.

We’re saddened to share the passing of longtime Fort Atkinson Beautification Council supporter, Dick Schultz. His life's journey was one marked by service to his country, dedication to community, and a lasting impact on local politics and sports. Richard's legacy is a testament to the power of active citizenship and the deep footprint one can leave through passionate commitment to the public good.
